The Ras Beirut Elementary School Special Arabic instructor and coordinator Jana Bayoud, and Art teacher, Layla Hamasni traveled to Connecticut USA and visited four public schools: Danbury High School and New Fairfield; North Salem Middle High School, New Milford High School, and Stepney Elementary School, Monroe. They attended several language and art classes, from KG to secondary, and exchanged teaching experiences, in addition to sharing expertise and new insights into how American schools can improve their curricula, and ensure the alignment between their theories and practices. They did not only benefit from the exposure to new things during their visit; but it also gave them a renewed appreciation for their own beloved school, IC, and its accomplishments. The teachers were also interviewed by a reporter from the News Times Magazine. “Culture” was a basic theme around which the interview revolved. Our teachers exchange program definitely promotes international mindedness and global citizenship.
